This lecture took place on 23 February 2022.

Data has the power to determine the new world order, yet it remains an untapped asset waiting to be unlocked by new business processes. The confluence of Web3 technologies like blockchain and AI is the key to kickstart a Data Economy where the barriers to sharing and monetizing data are mitigated,  privacy is preserved and the important tools of Defi are leveraged. As a starting point, there is a need to ensure security and comfort while sharing data and incentivize publishers to get the cycle going. Ocean Protocol is built with this very foundational understanding as its guiding principle.

Bruce Pon, Founder of Ocean Protocol, will discuss how safe data sharing is made possible with blockchain technology and cryptocurrency and will offer a comprehensive overview of how the latest advances made in Ocean Protocol – safe staking and Data NFTs – are spearheading this vision. The presentation will also feature a 3-step approach to finding a business model for the easy monetization of data.
